Ah....Country
Living...laze on a beach, breathe the fresh air, take a drive

oldest area in Canada. From the famous Rideau waterway in the south
to White Lake in the north, Lanark County has been blessed with a paradise
of lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Hundreds of coves and beaches speckle
the landscape just waiting for the touch of your bare feet. In the winter
clean white snow and miles of groomed ski and snowmobile trails line
the cozy little towns and villages of Lanark County, just waiting to
warm your heart as you settle into your "new" country home.
Please join us on a tour of the Lanark County country side as we visit Carleton Place, Perth, Smiths Falls, Beckwith Township and the new Mississippi Mills comprised of Almonte, Pakenham and Ramsay Township. We have included a brief description about the towns and villages in Lanark County. Carleton
Place A scenic Ottawa-Valley community situated on the beautiful Mississippi River, Carleton Place has grown into a community which perfectly blends the old and the new. With a population of 9,000 (and still growing) Carleton Place has its roots in the development of Lanark County's milling enterprises, but has grown into a bustling community only a short 20 minute drive from Kanata, 15 minutes to the new Corel Centre, and 47 km to the Nation's Capital. It's historic downtown is a pleasurable
place to shop, with its majestic Town Hall dominating the scene along

Smiths Falls The
modern town of Smiths Falls offers excellent shopping opportunities
with a large variety of specialty shops in its attractive downtown core,
three minimalls and the County Fair Mall. Attractive, centrally-located
parks offer boat and trailer facilities as well as picnic areas for
residents and tourists. The historic Rideau Canal system flowing through
the town provides a truly enjoyable setting for the numerous boaters.
Home of Hershey Canada Inc.'s chocolate factory has a visitor's shop
open year-round. With many museums, parks and activities Smiths Falls
offers an abundance of high quality living.

Beckwith
Township As you continue your journey you'll be trailing the pioneers whose homes and stories are part of the history of Beckwith Township which expands from minutes outside Carleton Place, past the quaint village of Franktown (join us for the yearly Lilac Festival) to almost Smiths Falls with further boundaries to Prospect. Mississippi
Mills The new Mississippi Mills is comprised of Almonte, Ramsay Township and Pakenham. Almonte is just minutes from the Nation's Capital and slips you back two hundred years in history. The sparkling waterfalls of the Mississippi river, the gracious tree-lined avenues and the Lanark Textile Museum all make Almonte a desirable location to settle in. With a population of 4,000 this quaint community sits on the Mississippi river and offers an easy commute to the city of Ottawa.
