A scenic Ottawa-Valley community situated on the beautiful Mississippi River, Carleton Place has grown into a community which perfectly blends the old and the new.
With a population of 9,000 (and still growing) Carleton Place has its roots in the development of Lanark County's milling enterprises, but has grown into a bustling community only a short 20 minute drive from Kanata, 15 minutes to the new Corel Centre, and 47 km to the Nation's Capital.
It's historic downtown is a pleasurable place to shop, with its majestic Town Hall dominating the scene along the treed and flower lined streets. Discover the town's history -- the Ballygiblan Riots, the man who downed the 'Red Baron' and the oldest racing Canoe Club in Canada. Older restored homes and subdivision developments offer a wide range of living choices for families and retirees looking for the peace of country living with the proximity to the city. Carleton Place offers everything today's active family demands!!
Historically recognized as a cultural centre, the Perth Community has embraced the arts as a viable vehicle for attracting tourism and creating employment. Just an hour's drive from Kingston and Ottawa, Perth has something for everyone. Its fine stone buildings, thriving downtown, excellent shopping, dining and beautiful lakes combine to make a memorable community in which to live. Boating on the Rideau and Tay Canals, lakeside living, and delightful festivals.

As you continue your journey you'll be trailing the pioneers whose homes and stories are part of the history of Beckwith Township which expands from minutes outside Carleton Place, past the quaint village of Franktown (join us for the yearly Lilac Festival) to almost Smiths Falls with further boundaries to Prospect.
The new Mississippi Mills is comprised of Almonte, Ramsay Township and Pakenham.
